Busy Busy!

Life is starting to get in the way of my blogging hobby!  There is a lot to catch up on.  First, the weekend recap.... Our tube stop destination last weekend was Leicester Square (I have to concentrate very hard to pronounce this correctly as Lester instead of how it looks).  We then walked to Covent Garden to walk around and visit the Transportation Museum.  The Transportation Museum was cool and Tyler really liked exploring.  You could walk inside some of the vehicles and that made for good photo ops with Big T.  We also picked up theater tickets for that evening.  Then we came home and did a free music class for Tyler as a family before JJ and I left to head back down to Leicester Square for the show.  We saw Rock of Ages.  I knew JJ would like it and we both really enjoyed the show and the 80s rock music. The crowd was lively and at the end everyone was dancing and signing.  We ended up getting great seats in the 8th row.  It was a small theater so we really felt like part of the show.  I was wondering if the actors would speak with a British accent during the speaking parts but they had perfect American accents.  JJ thought they were Americans but we looked it up after the show and they were in fact British.  After the show we grabbed a pint before heading home.  It was another great date night in London!  We hung around home on Sunday and relaxed and went to the big playground at Hampstead Heath.

Monday was the first swim class for the little guy and I.  There is a big park right in front of the building with the pool.  There is a big wading pond with water about an inch deep and Tyler was dying to splash around in it.  I figured he was going to get wet soon anyway and it was warmer out so why not.  He had a blast splashing around - we are in trouble now with puddles!  Swim class went well and Tyler really enjoyed the water.  I'm still learning to manage changing with him but this time went much better than the first so that is progress!  It is a 3 month class so we will have plenty of time to learn how to make it work.

Tuesday I had my first full day at the office and things are going well!  Tyler also enjoyed his day in the sunshine with Alison.  She wore him out being outside all day as it was the nicest day of the year so far - 61 and sunny!  She came back on Wednesday for a few hours so that I could finish up some work and go shopping for some warm weather clothes for Tyler for our spring break trip.  It proved to be a little more difficult to find swimwear for Tyler than I thought.  Stores either didn't have anything out, or they only had speedo-type Euro suits.   I ended up finding a suitable (non-speedo) one finally, but it made me realize how much I miss stores like Target and Carters back home.

So that is why there haven't been many blog posts this week!  Here are lots of pictures from the week and weekend.  We leave Saturday for Brussels for a night and are going to have nothing but waffles, chocolate and beer while there :)

Big T in Leicester Square.  They are refurbishing the Shakespeare statue in the center of the square

In line at the Transportation Museum

Chilling in the first London Underground train

Very interested in the trains

Riding the fake horses

The projected Underground signs were a big hit!

Moving on to buses....

He loved getting behind the wheel!

We made it to Chinatown for the end of Chinese New Year!

Bubbles during music class!
Date night!!!

This LOVE installment is in Covent Garden.  I really wanted to get a picture during the day but totally forgot but we stumbled on it that night.

The Lamb & the Flag pub.  The building had been there since the 1600s and the light is still lit by gas

Big T at the park

His favorite pastime - chasing pigeons!

He was very excited about this ramp.  He went up and down it at least 25 times.  Interesting that this is what he chose over all the fun playground equipment, but he's just figuring things out!

Splashing around!
