3 Countries, 1 Week

This is a big travel week for JJ as he headed off to Ireland today for the day for work and then we are going to France on Thursday for a ski weekend!  His trips always come up last minute (he found out about this one Friday) or else maybe we would have gone with him and stayed through the weekend.  I have never been to Ireland and hope to tag along on the next trip.  We are really looking forward to our long weekend in a chalet in the French Alps starting Thursday on JJ's birthday!  We are staying in a small chalet in the Morzine area of France.  The owner is British and has been really cool about everything so far.  We get breakfast and dinner at the chalet that is home cooked by the owners.  The reviews on TripAdvisor were really positive about the chalet and especially the food.  And there is a hot tub on the back porch so it should be a nice little getaway for the Kerns!  The small B&B/chalet set up is perfect since it's just like a house which allows JJ and I to put the little guy to bed and then have somewhere other than the bathroom to hang out for the night.  Oh and we get a nanny to come to the chalet to watch Tyler so JJ and I will get 2 full days of snowboarding.  I haven't been in 2 years so hopefully it is like riding a bike!

We had a nice weekend although the weather was dreadful.  It rained for over 12 hours straight yesterday.  We stayed in our pajamas literally all day and didn't leave the house.  It was nice to relax.  Now it's been snowing all day today.  I'm glad we decided to get out on Saturday and check out our neighborhood of the week.  This week was Islington.  It's not far from us right off the Northern Line and we absolutely loved it!  It has an adorable High Street full of antique shops, boutiques and cafes and there was a huge antique sale going on in the street.  I'm not usually one to go antique shopping but I must admit it's been growing on me lately.  We picked up an old K stamp for letters, etc.  I read about a few restaurants in the London Style Guide book so we set off to find them.  The first place boasted organic food and had 3 nice highchairs right in the window.  Their menu changed every day and depended on what the farmers brought in.  Sounded perfect until we saw that they didn't open until 12:30 and it was only 12.  The rain had started so we walked to the next location, The Island Queen.  This was a great pub and in a location off the beaten path so we were one of only two parties in there.  It was a pub so not exactly catering to toddlers but Tyler loved exploring and he's also gotten to like pub fish and chips so we all ended up happy.  Islington is definitely a place we will go back to.

Very serious about his tube ride to Islington

It took Tyler a little while to warm up to the pub....

Something is very interesting on Daddy's iPhone

Here it is perfectly acceptable to have your baby in a bar :)

Love this (thanks Leana)!  A restaurant in Hampstead is featured on the cover.
Our K stamp - we chose the square one on the bottom

The huge tree out of the big windows in our flat in the dining room.  It looked so beautiful this morning in the snow that I decided I want to take a picture of it through the seasons.  Tyler loves watching all the birds in it when he eats.
